MOUNT DESERT - Elsie Flemings, candidate for State Representative in District 35, announced today that she will be holding a series of eight listening forums during the month of April in order to hear the concerns, perspectives, and needs of individuals from throughout District 35, which encompasses Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, most of Mount Desert and Southwest Harbor.
Each of the listening forums will reach out to a specific group of people in the area: Educators, Small Business Owners, Youth, Healthcare Providers, Builders and Constructions Trades Workers, Fishermen, Senior Citizens, Veterans. All forums will be held at the Somesville Fire Station, a central location in the district, and they will be free and open to the public.
"It is important to me that I hear the concerns and perspectives of community members, in order to effectively represent them in Augusta," said Flemings.
"Through this series of forums, I will be able to learn from a variety of people and gain a deeper understanding of their concerns and the issues they face.
"I look forward to holding more forums and events throughout the spring and summer, so that I can hear from as many residents in our towns as possible. By discussing issues and sharing ideas, we can work together to support our communities and find solutions to the challenges we face."
The schedule of the forums are listed below. Forums will run approximately one and a half hours, and all are welcome at any time. Refreshments will be provided.
