Labor Issues Hat tip to our HCDC Labor liaison, Will Rice, for the information on this page. To help with labor issues, contact Will, 667-6595.
EFCALong before the current economic crisis, American workers were increasingly insecure in their jobs, their wages and salaries were stagnating, their benefits were shrinking or nonexistent. This assault on the Middle Class can be traced in part to declining union membership, which in turn stems in large part from the increasing difficulty in organizing unions in the face of unethical business tactics. The Employee Free Choice Act would make the process of forming a union more fair: by reducing management interference and intimidation; providing meaningful penalties for firing union organizers and other illegal acts; and ensuring a timely, equitable first contract.

Health Care Reform Labor unions have fought for decades to improve health care for workers. This year they are very involved in the fight for health care reform. See our Health Care page for more on this issue.
