Health Insurance Reform

OVERVIEW

There is a tremendous outpouring of emotion and energy around this discussion, and quite a bit of misinformation. HCDC is working to help educate folks about this issue, and to provide a counterbalance to the industry lobbyists. If you are interested in seeing real reform - single-payer or a strong public option - we need your voice and your pen, and occasionally your presence. We cannot leave the field to the opposition if we are going to get reform.

The White House's Reality Check page provides responses to the misinformation spreading through cable news, emails, etc.

For information on how Maine would be affected by health insurance form, visit this page.

GET INVOLVED

There will be a number of related events in the next few weeks, including some that may come together on short notice. If you would like to be on our "Rapid Response Team" for health care, please let us know by emailing us - please include your phone number in the email.

A local phone bank is gearing up around this issue. To help out, contact Will Rice, 667-6595.

And of course, we encourage you to share your views on reform with your federal representatives. Constituent contacts are very powerful! Their contact information is on our Contact Legislators page.

You can send a message to the White House here.
