Keep ME Warm

Dec. '05:
Governor Baldacci traveled to Hancock County to meet with supporters and talk with the community about his work to help low income families with high heating costs. The Governor knows that it's wrong for us to allow our neighbors to go without heat this winter. He has put politics aside to ensure that low income Mainers get the assistance they deserve. Since the federal Government will not come through with enough funds, the Governor created a charitable fund called the "Keep ME Warm Charitable Fund". If you are interested in contributing to this fund you may do so at www.mainecommunityaction.org . The Governor is continuing to work to bring more aid to low income families this winter. The press has not covered the Governor's hard work to help Maine families. Instead they focused on negative stories coming out of the Republican headquarters. Please write a letter to the Editor of your local paper and tell them they should cover the Governor's hard work to help low income Mainers.

The basic talking points are:

We all look forward to a warm cozy home.

However, for some Maine families the high costs of heating will be difficult to handle.

Remember to talk in terms of VALUES.

The Values behind helping Mainers keep warm

1) Community Responsibility, Mainers look out for each other.

2) Democrats fight for working families.

3) It is wrong for people to have to choose between food and heat

4) It is wrong that while oil companies make record profits Mainers freeze
