Democracy (Use It or Lose It)

HCDC is also running a series of radio ads by Sen. George Mitchell on several local stations. Following is the text of the radio spots:

Economy
This is Senator George Mitchell and this year you make the difference. I’m sure you remember when the economy was growing. And, it wasn’t so long ago when we had a surplus not a record deficit. Working together we can have those days again. We can grow the economy  and have both jobs and a clean environment. You can make the difference. Vote Democrat on November 2.

Respect and Trust
This is Senator George Mitchell. It’s time to restore the promise of America.  We can be strong at home and respected around the world. We can have a fresh start that leads to a real coalition, one that will win the war and bring our troops home. These are not easy goals to achieve. They take real leadership you can trust. You can make the difference. Vote Democrat on November 2.

Oil
This is Senator George Mitchell and it is time to end America’s dependence on oil from the middle east. In Maine our elderly and low income residents may have to choose between food and heat, between getting their prescriptions filled and staying warm. We can do better. We have to do better. You can make the difference. Vote Democrat on
November 2.

Environment
This is Senator George Mitchell. 30 years ago Sen. Muskie led the drive to clean up the air we breath and the waters of our lakes and streams with passage of the clean air act-  and for 30 years I and others have continued this fight.  But in the past 4 years these laws protecting our environment have been under assault. The current administration and congress have turned these laws on their head, gutting these protections and leaving the polluters in charge of deciding how much pollution is ok.  In Maine, pregnant women and small children are advised not to eat the fish caught in our waters due to mercury and other toxins. We need to put an end to having the polluters in charge. We need to do better for Maine. You can make the difference. Vote Democrat on November 2.

All the ads finish with the tag line:
Paid for by the Hancock County Democratic Committee.
